I am very pleased with my experience having cataracts surgery with Dr. Melki (cataracts surgeon) and Dr. Lee (optometrist) and I highly recommend Boston Vision.I chose the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) option for an additional cost. It required that I come in to their office every 7-10 days over 2 months after the surgeries to adjust the lenses to meet my specific vision goals to be able to see distance and close up without glasses. The follow-up adjustment appointments take place in their Brookline Village office and were long (2-3 hours) and required that I be dilated. I now dont need glasses most of the time, but did get a pair of progressives to help make some distance vision clearer likely watching TV or going to the theater or sporting events, and reading easier for some smaller prints.I suspect that I had cataracts for at least two years prior, as I had gone to several different optometrists to help determine why my updated prescriptions were still leaving me with blurry vision. The test that those optometrists do for cataracts is a digital screen and didnt see any evidence of cataracts. I then eventually found Boston Vision and the digital screen they did showed a faint possibility that I had cataracts. They then dilated my eyes and quickly confirmed the presence of cataracts.Dr. Melki is the founder of Boston Vision and I was very confident in choosing him as my cataracts surgeon and was very happy with the results. I was surprised by how little I interacted with him- just the initial consultation and then very briefly before and during the surgeries. I did the Light Adjustment Lens adjustments with Dr. Lee, and I plan on continuing to see her as my optometrist going forward.The Brookline Village office is beautiful and very well run. I initially went to the Medford location, which was an existing practice that had been recently brought into Boston Vision. I did not have as great of an experience with the staff there and will keep travelling further to Brookline Village in the future.Dr. Melki performs his surgery at the Waltham Surgisite location. Surgisite is a very well oiled machine and being there for surgery was a good experience. However, I was surprised to have additional post-surgery bills from the Waltham Surgisite that were not outlined in advance. When I reached out to Boston Vision staff when I was seeking to understand the unexpected charge, I initially wasnt happy with follow-up. I then escalated the concern to Dr. Melki and was pleased with their subsequent openness to seeing where their system could be improved to make all costs related to the surgery clear up front, not just the ones that will be billed by Boston Vision.Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Melki and Dr. Lee at Boston Vision!
